Kit Manufacturer: Tamiya Scale: 1/35 Mold Date: 1982 Cost: $47 Aftermarket Parts Used: None I actually built the predecessor to the M1 just before this (the M60). It was the Dragon version, which was very detailed but also very part and assembly intensive. Tamiya's M1A2 Abrams was a breath of fresh air. I had it totally assembled and ready for paint in less than 4 hours. And it went together flawlessly. It has plenty of detail so it's hard to justify more work in this case. I really like Tamiya's wheel assembly. Each wheel has a bushing so they can be assembled without glue. This is a fairly common feature for Tamiya kits and it is very handy for weathering and track installation. I used the supplied vinyl tracks versus upgrading to Fruils like I usually do. Can't say I really needed upgrades. These worked well and were easy to install and weather. This was my first "modern" AFV and I had a blast doing it. Great kit and a great experience.
